Crazy Angel Guitar

My good friend Al K. told me that now since I am a guitarist (ie. I’m taking guitar lessons) I can now play the crazy angel guitar.

CrazyAngelGuitar

What more can I say? It really is a crazy angel guitar.
Thanks Al! I had to order it right away.

What Is Up Now?

Now that the holidays are over I’m trying to get all my projects cleaned up before I start in on new designs. This means I need to FINISH all the directions for the Sewing Kits I already have for sale. Get all the technical not so fun stuff to do done. I’m working on it.

Today is my brother Daniel’s birthday and last minute I decided to make something very special for him. It’s a bit of an endeavor so it will take me a little bit to finish it up. I got a good start and then I got sick. AGAIN. I’m so over this whole sickness thing. I can’t give clues or show pics yet just in case. Sometimes he browses my site.

I have a couple of dolls to show off to you. These dolls were made just for fun. Once you start making dolls, they really become so addictive. They are just so darn cute! Pics for the next post. Promise.

Oh, and I decided to enter the Spoonflower fabric design contest for Rococo. That was a last minute thing. I haven’t designed anything for any of their competitions is a really long time. Plus I love Rococo. The deadline is Tuesday so I’ll post pics of that later too.

Hmmmmmmmmm…anything else? Nope. Oh wait. I’m starting guitar lessons this Tuesday with Christmas money! Yay!

Merry Christmas! Also…Doll Update

I hope everyone had a very Merry Christmas! I had a strange Christmas as I had the stomach flu and was alone in my house all day on Christmas.

I wanted to (finally!) post the final product pictures of the Craft Hope dolls my kids made. (Introduction Post) Et voila!

Rosemary made a doll for a little girl named Velice. Rosemary took such care in picking out all of her fabrics for her doll. We also embroidered Velice’s name on her doll’s scarf and made up a little bed inside the box.

Esther made a sock monkey for a little boy named Cesar. He’s five years old. Esther was very excited to find these extra fluffy socks. She said they were a perfect color for boys and also very Christmas-y! I couldn’t agree more. We also embroidered Cesar’s name on the scarf of the monkey. You’ll be able to see it better in a later picture.

We had also invited our dear friend Kayleigh to participate in making a toy with us. She made a “Pupkin” doll and it turned out so cute!

Here are all the girls together so proud of their creations.

Ellie had run into the house while we were taking all of these pictures. She didn’t have a doll to take a picture with. So to leave you, here is Ellie with her “doll” that she grabbed from her room.

Merry Christmas everyone and Happy New Year!

A Familyre Christmas Volume 3

I am pleased to share with all of you friends, “A Familyre Christmas Volume 3.”  My brother Daniel Smith has a record label called “Sounds Familyre” and 4 years ago he started “A Familyre Christmas” where Sounds Familyre artists (listed at the end of the post), family, and friends could record a traditional or original Christmas song to share. As a part of the giving holiday spirit all of these albums are FREE for download during the Christmas season. Jon and I have been honored to have been a part of this tradition from the beginning. They are posting 2 songs a day (to keep you coming back for more!) until the Eve of Christmas Eve. And…

A Familyre Christmas 3 Album

TODAY IS OUR DAY! Go and enjoy our song entitled, “Glory” based on the passage in Luke. This song is from the perspective of the shepherd. And don’t forget to keep checking back every day for 2 more amazing songs until right before Christmas. I mean, seriously, who doesn’t love FREE?!!!?

Love,

Delightful Dolphin Dress

I have finished the second dress that will be sent to NJ tomorrow to be opened for Christmas by my niece Lilly Hannah. This dress is such a fun dress for an older girl and it has an element of sophistication. You can see the flat of this design and read the story behind it HERE.

Another thing I am learning as all the children around me are growing way too quickly, is that there are some definite gaps in children’s wear sizing. For girls, it skips from an 8 to 10 and then a 10 to 12. The jump between these sizes seems enormous to me and although my second daughter is breezing through all the sizes, my eldest grows very slowly. She is turning 10 but a size 10 swims on her. She can still wear 8’s, but should really be wearing a “9” if it existed. So fortunately for all of you mothers with the same issues as myself, this Dolphin Dress is a SIZE 11! Who says I can’t make my own rules? It’s my pattern, isn’t it? My niece Lilly is the perfect size 11 and I will post pictures of both the girls when I get them after Christmas.

Once again this dress was printed up by Spoonflower in the Organic Cotton Sateen.

I’m excited about this one!

Hope you are all having a wonderful Christmas season! Don’t forget to get the Sounds Familyre Christmas 3 album, which is a FREE download of new Christmas music by a plethora of amazing artists—both Sounds Familyre artists as well as family and friends. They will be posting 2 songs a day until the day before Christmas Eve so you can continue to download them as they are posted. Enjoy!

SHH! Don’t Tell Ida! (or) The Sweetest Seal Dress Ever

I finally finished my Seal Dress for Ida. You can see my flat design on this POST. I was faced with a couple challenges here:

  1. Ida loves red. I don’t really design with red. I don’t know why. Maybe because I don’t wear it? Probably.
  2. Ida loves seals. Who ever heard of a dress with seals on it? Could be kinda creepy. And red with seals? I don’t know. Could have a negative graphic image going on there. I’m thinking blood.
  3. Ida is seven. Seven is old enough that you don’t want to look completely cutesy anymore. Some, yes. But all, definitely not.

Once again I seized the challenge with gusto and this will be my second size 7 Mamma Made Sewing Kit that will be offered for sale. Spoonflower, once again, did not disappoint and I ONLY go with the Organic Cotton Sateen. It really is the best for my garments.

And I present to you the “Sweetest Seal Dress.”

Seriously, DON’T TELL IDA! IT’S A SURPRISE!!!!!

Craft Hope Dolls

In my last post, I talked about a book, “Craft Hope” where you can sew items for underprivileged children.

I almost forgot to take some pictures of these little dolls. I’m so glad that I did. I was pleased (for the most part!) how they turned out. They are officially packed up, wrapped, and ready to be taken to Ensenada, Mexico this coming Saturday. I got to help wrap A LOT of presents with my church that are going to these kids and it was an amazing time.

Ensenada Dolls

The girls and I found a plastic box and last minute we decided to make a little bed and blanket for each doll. I worked on the dolls at the same time and this is how the faces were SUPPOSED to turn out.

IMG_4285

Eleanor, my three year old daughter, got a hold of the “flower doll” as she called it after only the eyes were embroidered. She took a red crayon and gave the doll a nice crayon mouth. That is why my second doll has a bit of a “fat lip” look. I could NOT get that crayon out!

Doll A. Pattern from "Craft Hope"

Ahhhh…the joys of JOY! Just a reminder, you can sew these little dolls too. The book is called, “Craft Hope” and you can get it at your local bookstore.

***New Sewing Kit Pictures to be revealed VERY soon!***
